The oldest bridge in Prague today built in place of the Judita's Bridge which had been badly damaged by a flood in 1342. Its construction started under Charles IV in 1357 and was finished by the beginning of the 15th century. Originally called the Stone Bridge or the Prague Bridge it has been known as the Charles Bridge since 1870. It is decorated with 30 statues erected mostly between 1683 and 1714.
